Fire Tablets – Fingerprint

I led the end to end design for the fingerprint scanner experience on Fire Tablets. This was a 0 to 1, shipped project, on the first premium Fire Tablets with a hardware fingerprint scanner. I collaborated extensively to establish the full experience, covering fingerprint enrollment, management, validation, settings, and OS and lock screen integration. I drove extensive collaboration between UX, Visual, Motion, Copy, Legal, Engineering, Product, Security, and Research to design a compelling interactive experience that meets the high bar expected of a first party, OS level security experience. Challenges included working within technical and hardware constraints to present an experience with expected sense of feedback and guidance, as well as collecting adequate fingerprint information and solving for multiple fingers / hands.  Tens of millions of users reached, huge business impact – the integration of fingerprint validation to the Amazon App Store increased sales by 33%, impact measured in hundreds of millions of dollars.
